Guys please be carefull and if possible avoid taking pictures near the corniche beach coz i was brought inside the police station, they confiscated my camera, checked the contents and i was interrogated. I explained to them that i have no idea that its not allowed to take photos near that place. I have suggested them to put warning also not to take photos.

All the guards were around and they should have warned me until the CID approached me and brought to the station...

We were able to take photos there. Not just near the beach, but in the beach.

When in doubt, the rule of thumb is: Ask for permission.

Or maybe we were just lucky that a Pinoy guard allowed us to come in. :-)

To avoid being in a situation like this, it is very important for us to be aware of the photography restrictions in the UAE. It is a must.

The Visit Abu Dhabi website mentions that it is only prohibited to take photos of government offices, military installations, and Muslim women. However, some local photo club sites say that taking photos in some other public places, Fish Market for example, are prohibited. Can you believe that?!?

Let's compile a list of photography restrictions. Let's know the rules and play by them. What places should we avoid or at least where should we be extremely cautious?
